Mobility Impaired
Chartwell Guest House has one wheel chair friendly room (Suite 6). The room is situated close to the car park for ease of access.
Ramps make the room and guest house reception and dining room wheelchair accessible. The extra-large, barrier free, roll in shower is step-less and has a hand shower mixer on a sliding rail with extra-long hose.
A plastic shower chair is available on request. The toilet has a grab rail on the left hand side.
Pet Friendly
We understand why the canine inclined don’t want to leave their fur kids at home. There are few things as fun as letting your dogs loose on the beach, watching them surf a wave, roll in the sand or explore a rock pool.
Chartwell Guest House is pet friendly under certain circumstances. Although we love dogs, we know not everyone does, so dogs are allowed at Chartwell Guest House, in certain rooms under strict conditions and only with the written consent of the owner.

I recently stayed at the Sandringham for three and a half weeks, was working on a project in Merebank, Durban. They accommodated my needs in more than one way. Firstly, they had to adjust their breakfast time to start at 06:00 because I had to travel to Merebank from Umhlanga, and I use to leave at 06:45. So they make it possible for me to have breakfast before I left. Every day they will make sure that I either have Muffins or Croissants on my way to work. The most unforgettable act was when the staff, after realizing that I was away from home for so long, sometimes they will share their dinner with me, giving me a break from take-ways. I guess it will take time for me to forget such a service.
